TANGO WORKSHOPS & TECHNIQUE CLASSES for leaders & followers

After first meeting in Montreal in 2017, Veronica and Melina were pleased to find that not only did they enjoy dancing together but that they have very similar and complementary pedagogies. They decided to offer a series of workshops and performances in Paris in early 2020, just before the start of the pandemic. The collaboration was a great success and they pledged to work together once again as soon as international borders reopened. Following a second series of workshops that took place this past July in Paris, we are thrilled that will teach together this fall in Montreal and in Ottawa.

Note that the number of participants is limited to an equal number of leaders and followers in each class.

FANCY SACADA POTPOURRI

VOLEOS: classical vs nuevo (for advanced dancers)
An overview of the different types of boleos associated with these different styles. For inter-advanced and advanced level dancers.

8:30 pm
La Pratique Portena with Pablo Pugliese and Noel Strazza
LA PORTENA is a guided practice much in the same style of the practicas that are held in Buenos Aires. For inter-advanced and advanced couples.
Workshop participants pay 15$ instead of the usual 20$!

STACCATO vs LEGATO movements for intermediate and advanced dancers. Increase creativity and interpretation by exploring the qualities of movement that correspond to different parts of music.

3:30 pm
CROSSED CREATIVITY!
We all learned ‘‘THE cross’’ at our first tango lessons! In this class, we'll take this ''every day'' figure up to the next level and discover new variations that range from the most classical to the least conventional.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT VERONICA
Veronica has been dancing tango since 2000 and teaching since 2007. Her experience with modern, contemporary and classical dance has allowed her to forge a solid technical foundation for her tango. In Paris, she is co-founder and teacher at Tango Mon Amour. She has traveled extensively to give workshops in Italy, Russia, Sweden, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Canada, United States, Czech Republic, Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Great Britain , Ukraine, Belarus, Norway and Argentina. A much-admired dancer/teacher, she is well known for her technique seminars and for her much-read tango blogs. When Veronica first met Melina in Montreal she not only admired her dancing but also for her sensitivity as a leader and for her musical interpretation. This year, Veronica invited Melina to collaborate and design a workshop dedicated specifically to women leaders.

MELINA
Praised for her elegance and her stregnth as a dancer, respected for her pedagogy and her dedication to teaching, Melina Mistral is undeniably passionate about the Argentine Tango. Based in Montreal, (one of the most popular cities for Tango in North America), she regularly travels to the U.S and to Europe to give workshops and performances. Melina's knowledge of the body draws upon her years of practising martial arts and sports (pre-Tango), as well as ballet and Pilates, and the numerous Tango classes she took with a wide variety of teachers. Constantly in search of new concepts and new techniques, she has worked with various teachers and dancers during her travels, including Leandro Haeder, Ney Melo, Phi Lee, Raphaël Baron, and Marcelo “El Chino. ” Gutierrez. She has designed a series of specialized courses called “Take the Lead” (for women who want to learn the leader’s role). Very popular in Montreal, she also teaches these classes in other tango centres.
